| Marjorie E. Warmus |
Marjorie F. Warmus died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, February 13, 2009. Born in Elma, New York, Marg was one of ten children of the late Mary Monnin and Roy Hapeman Sr. Marg had many fond memories of growing up in a large family and her stories of childhood escapades could make you laugh until your sides hurt.
After graduating from St. Mary’s High School in Lancaster, NY, Marg worked for the Pittsburgh Paint and Glass Company in downtown Buffalo. After she married and moved to the Albany area, Marg worked for the Internal Revenue Service.
She left the IRS to fulfill her life’s purpose, motherhood. She lived for her children and when the time came, her grandchildren. She never met a child she didn’t love. She lovingly opened her home and her heart, providing day care to dozens of children over a span of nearly twenty years.
Marg led by example and volunteered for many organizations including the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts and the Ballston Spa Ambulance Corps.
Marg was proud of her family and friends. She never missed an opportunity to compliment them on a delicious meal, a new venture or a job well done. She was willing to share whatever she had. Not only would she give you the shirt off her back, she’d throw in a pair of shoes to match.
When she wasn’t busy being a wife, a mom, a grandma, a sister or a friend, she loved her gardens and little projects around the house. She loved family photos and was a champion scrapbooker long before it was in vogue. A perfect day for Marg involved being with her family, seeing people laugh and having someone else do the cooking.
Marg’s life was all about LOVE. Messages on answering machines and signatures on notes always ended with her simple sign-off, “love.” It is fitting that on this Valentine’s Day, she is in heaven surrounded by tremendous peace and love.
In addition to her parents, Marg was predeceased by her son Daniel, brothers Lawrence and Roy Jr. and her sister Louise. Survivors include Emil, her husband of 48 years, daughters Christine (Lee) Murphy and Martha (Martin) Petteys, both of Gansevoort. Her beloved grandchildren; Allison, Cole and Katie Murphy, Jakob Warmus, Abigail and Samuel Petteys; her brothers Martin, Albert and Vincent; her sisters Evelyn, Eleanor and Janet and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 pm, Monday February 16, 2009 at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Tuesday February 17, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa.
