Bernard H. Wemple
Bernard H. Wemple, 82, of Armer Road, Rock City Falls, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Saratoga Hospital following a brief illness surrounded by his family.
Born in Gloversville, March 15, 1930, he was the son of the late Flora and Delbert Wemple, Sr. Bern graduated from Mayfield High School in 1948 where he we very athletic; playing baseball, basketball and soccer. He went on to work at General Electric Co for 25 years, graduating from their Engineering Program in 1952.
He coached Little League baseball and basketball in Clifton Park, played semi-pro basketball, and was a basketball manager for Schenectady. He moved from Clifton Park to Rock City Falls in 1969. Bern was of the Presbyterian faith. He was an avid NY Yankees fan. He enjoyed corresponding with his friends and family via email and very much looked forward to Sunday dinners with his children and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Joan Johnson, whom he married in 1953, and his son, Keith Wemple.
Bern is survived by two sons, Steven A. Wemple of Rock City Falls and Brian H. Wemple of Providence, daughter in law, Nancy E. Wemple of Rock City Falls, two grandchildren, Christopher Wemple of Rock City Falls and Kristi Wemple of Providence, two brothers, Bruce (Audrey) of Galway and Delbert (Mary) of Cincinnatus and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service at 2pm Sunday, May 27 at the family home, 1367 Armer Road, Rock City Falls.
Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
